Redefine the visual strategy and online presence of a global boutique agency, to unlock its digital potential.

We've been asked to collaborate with Karla Otto Creative dept. in London to conceive the new visual identity of their international brand.
The main request was to reposition the perception of the brand from a traditional PR agency to a communication consultancy firm.
We created a future proof visual identity to better present the broad range of their services, introducing a communication schema to highlight the breath of their capabilities in each industry

Karla Otto is one of the most influential people shaping the fashion industry.
The agency founded in 1982 handles PR for over 70 brands like Dior, Givenchy, Simone Rocha. In 2020 together with K2 and The Qode they founded The Independents: a global group with offices in 12 cities, from New York to Tokyo reaching a network which spans from North America, Europe, Middle East, and Asia.

Visual Strategy

The agency intrinsic elegance, subtlety and authenticity have been distilled into a minimal yet sharp visual dictionary.
We used this initial research to amplify the communication assets on every digital channel which needed to better reflect the growth and diverse skill set of the agency.
Working closely with Karla Otto’s team, we redefined the aesthetic of the brand and empower it to better position it in the international panorama.

Branding

We kept the historic logo to reference the solidity of the brand and we surrounded it with a completely new brand identity. We identified a granular typographic structure to enhance the impact of every communication instance while keeping it accessible and clear. We avoided boastfulness and meaningless extravagance and preferred a true-to-the-facts approach using reportage images. The colour schema was designed to categorise the diverse expertise in the industries of Fashion, Lifestyle, Beauty, Design, Arts and Culture. Every detail of the agency’s communication has been designed with care and precision: from digital channels to printed materials.

Web Development

The technical implications of a dynamic interface are many and we optimised the UI design with functional solutions since its inception. We created a prototype to act as a proof of concept and verified each visual solution to generate a smooth navigation. The single page application was built on top of a micro service architecture which used React framework to provide a flexible and reliable code base. We extended Wordpress to empower the editorial team with a proper content management system and used its GraphQL API to populate the interface.
